Abstract :
A new blind FIR filter receiver is proposed for the detection of DS-CDMA signals in unknown multi-user interference (MUI) and additive white Gaussian noise. The proposed receiver is motivated by the Wiener signal reconstruction theory and it is a very low complexity alternative to the minimum-output-energy (MOE) receiver. At only a minimal increase of the computational cost, the proposed detector outperforms significantly the conventional matched filter (MF) receiver. It also compares favorably to the decorrelating detector (with similar near-far resistance), despite the fact that the latter utilizes the assumed known MUI spreading codes. The novel characteristic of the proposed receiver is the incorporation of an auxiliary vector component that allows statistically optimal, adaptive steering of the filter with respect to the incoming DS-CDMA signal
