Abstract
The authors discuss the phenomena of the fuzziness in 3-D surface perception from its boundary and attempt to build a mathematical model of 3-D surface reconstruction from its boundary. The mathematical model is a very simple and preliminary, but results of the simulation provide clues to understanding the phenomena of fuzziness, in the 3-D surface interpolation mechanism of the human visual system but not only also in connection with an artificial neural network which realizes a 3-D surface perceiving function for a machine vision system
