Abstract :
This paper proposes a field oriented control of PMSMS (permanent magnet synchronous motor with sinusoidal excitation) for wide speed range without current measurement sensors and using two Hall-effect sensors for position and speed estimation. The current sensors are eliminated, but the d- and q-axes armature currents are estimated using a Luenberger state observer with OC-link power input. The estimated currents are used for two independent current control loops. Two Hall-effect sensors, which have a resolution of only 90 electrical degrees, are used instead of a rotary encoder for the position and speed estimation. The proposed drive system is simple and economical and it can be implemented using a 16 bit (MCU) microcontroller. Experimental steady-state performance results and dynamic performance results are examined by several drive tests with a PMSMS.
