Abstract :
This paper categorizes the commonly used passive harmonic reduction techniques for six pulse rectifiers. These rectifiers appear primarily in inverters, DC-DC converters, welding machines and many other devices which use a rectified link voltage. The system perturbations which these rectifiers produce because of their distorted current consumption must be compensated to fulfill the relevant technical standards, for example the IEEE 519 or the EN 50160 at the point of common coupling or the EN 61000-3-2/-3-12 for the load itself. Many different passive LC filter topologies are compared with each other and with higher pulse solutions with respect to their Altering effects under consideration of line voltage unbalance, load changes and component investment.
