Abstract :
Based on the needs of Named Entity Recognition, this paper discusses the comparative experiment in the same environment about HMM and MEM. After in-depth analyzing the characteristic and application in named entity recognition of the two models, merits and shortcomings are proposed. As the shortcomings of existing models are pointed, the future direction of further research is explored.
