Abstract :
This study deals with the inverse problem in ocean acoustic tomography. Given the characteristics of the transmitted and received signal, the inverse problem demands calculation of the ocean properties, characterized by the speed of sound. To simplify the problem, the authors consider a range independent environments (the sound speed only depends on depth). They propose two different approaches to process the inverse problem, both using a vertical reception array. This study aims at comparing the validity, the robustness, the accuracy and the calculation cost of both methods with experimental data
