Abstract :
The last fifty years were marked by an impressive evolution of ICT and the convergence theory was not in focus for a long time in this field. The present paper treats the convergence theory in the context of communication systems and tries to forecast the next steps in this area of interest. The paper analyzes the current market status, the business and technological convergence that marked the last years and tries to give a prediction for the future of fixed telephony, mobile telephony, Internet, proposing an unified approach. The paper also proofs that with the current research speed it will be possible soon to have a unified network of interacting machines and humans.
