Abstract
Due to lack of random access memory and other optical logic devices, optical burst switching networks suffer high blocking probability. To address this problem, a new congestion control method based on network segmentation (CCNS) is proposed in this paper. This method can be referred to as a combination of traffic control and load balanced routing strategy. OBS networks are segmented into two parts, one part contains access networks, edge nodes, the other part contains core optical network. Traffic control strategy and load balanced routing strategy are employed by each part respectively. Simulation result shows that blocking rate is reduced efficiently.
