Abstract
In this paper, we present a relational global semantic network (RGSN) to resolve the problems associated with heterogeneity-based collisions in information integration. The proposed approach is based on the WordNet ontology, which defines the relationships among words. RGSN primarily derives connections among entities in each schema and finally provides a foundation to resolve the heterogeneity problem. The proposed approach was implemented as a prototype system that can be used in an integrated heterogeneous multidatabase environment. It helps users to retrieve data correctly without considering the various schema structures of many local databases. This is a prerequisite for the utilization of integrated databases and would be the main contribution of this paper.
