Abstract :
Modern drive systems utilise sensorless closed loop control for increased reliability and lower manufacturing costs. For some niche applications such as wind generation large slip ring induction machine (SRIM) drives have gained popularity. This paper describes a novel technique for the sensorless four quadrant control of an SRIM drive for sub- and supersynchronous operation. This work utilises a digital signal processing technique to extract the rotor EMFs from the terminal voltages of the machine
