Abstract :
Ad hoc networks have a wide range of applications and can be used in different situations. Recently, many routing protocols have been designed and implemented for ad hoc networks. These protocols are designed to overcome main restrictions of ad hoc networks such as low battery budget, signal interference, low radio range and node mobility. Energy consumption management is one of the key issues in designing efficient routing protocols and applications for ad hoc networks. In this article, we combine network coding scheme with AODV to address energy consumption of ad hoc networks. We use a hop by hop coding technique which is very like the conventional IP forwarding mechanism. The resulting scheme called ANC consumes less energy, reduces the number of data transmission and is more scalable compared to AODV.
