Abstract
This paper presents a general algorithm which allows for the rapid optimization of track circuit parameters such as frequency, length, end impedance, etc., and includes the effects of bypasses and coupling. The algorithm is based on a mathematical model of the track circuit utilizing a 2(P+1) multiport network and involves the solution of the appropriate matrix equations. Based on this algorithm, software has been developed for track circuit analysis and synthesis. This software includes a library of modules which allow the user to model track circuits of any kind. Utilizing this software several practical applications of this model are presented
