Abstract
This paper describes a new way to increase the efficiency and to obtain high power factor with fast regulation of the output voltage. A common approach is to use power factor pre-regulators in cascade with a DC/DC power converter to obtain a fast regulation of the output voltage in the load or DC bus. There are several single stage solutions too, which integrate the PFC and fast dynamic response in a simple structure. Some of them only use one switch, but the current and voltage stresses in the switch are very high because the converters operate in DCM. Therefore, the converter efficiency is relatively low, but size and cost are improved. In this paper, a simple efficient AC/DC power converter structure is proposed. With this converter, a high power factor and tight regulated output voltage are achieved
