Abstract
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) become more and more important in various application areas. Many application scenarios require connectivity between WSNs and the Internet. Though WSN is typically not IP-enabled, connection to the IP network makes it easy to monitor sensors everywhere in the world. In this paper, we define IPv6-enabled WSNs as convergence of WSNs and IPv6 and propose an extended tree- based routing algorithm (ETRA) for IPv6-enabled WSNs. It improves the existing hierarchical routing method´s inefficient routes. The ETRA´s performance is evaluated using an example.
