Abstract :
Data structure in design of a CNC interpolator is as important as the interpolating calculation, especially for a CNC interpolator designed with a reconfigurable system. This paper raises the topic to study the data structure for CNC system design. Aiming at binary-partitioned interpolating process that is available for high-speeded interpolation, a data storage and access strategy for the interpolation is studied and a data structure model is presented based on the architecture of full binary trees. In accordance with the data structure, approaches to store and to access the data are investigated and proposed in both a sequential mode and a parallel/pipeline mode. Both the approaches are available for a rapid access of interpolating data stored in the data structure.
