Abstract :
Active vision is a focus topic in the field of computer vision. Designing and constructing active vision systems which perform different visual functions analogous to those of human vision system is considered as the core of the subject. In this paper, we describe our work on the design and construction of NJU head-eye platform which is similar to but different in many aspects from the KTH head developed in CVAP, Royal Institute of Technology of Sweden. The NJU head consists of two eye modules, each of which can perform its own independent pan and tilt motions. A neck module drives the head to perform pan and tilt motions which are independent of those of the eye modules. In addition, the two cameras of the head-eye platform can focus and zoom according to the changing environments. The length of the baseline of the binocular system is adjustable
