Abstract
For investigations and analyses of the processes within synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) system, simulation studies are necessary. A SAS raw signal simulation is presented in this paper. A more accurate point-scatterer model is proposed and the efficient FFT algorithm is used in this simulation. Contrary to known simulators, the proposed procedure has two advantages: first of all, the algorithm is based on a accurate point-scatterer model, so that the procedure is simple to implement and the result is more reliable; in addition, a well-known efficient FFT algorithm for SAR is modified to adapt the SAS simulation, thus reducing the computational load with respect to a time domain simulation. The developed simulation model is turned into a MATLAB code. First simulation results are presented.
