Abstract :
Recently, a hybrid signal transmission technique based on space-time block coding (STBC) and (conventional) beamforming (CBF) was introduced. The performances of sole STBC transmission, hybrid STBC/CBF, and sole CBF transmission were compared in terms of energy reduction in symbol transmission for given outage probability. In this paper, a new hybrid scheme based on STBC in conjunction with local polynomial approximation (LPA) beamforming is proposed. Due to accurate LPA beamforming, the proposed scheme demonstrates in the simulations consistent superiority to hybrid STBC/CBF scheme. The BER performance comparisons of sole beamforming, sole diversity, and hybrid diversity and beamforming are also presented and compared in the simulations
