Abstract :
In this paper we provide the description of a VoIP architecture that is optimized to offer VoIP services in various scenarios such as catastrophe areas. The system offers multiple users VoIP services over a local access technology such as wireless LAN. The users are then connected to the Internet and ISDN over a satellite link. To be able to offer such a solution in a smooth and transparent manner, the system was designed to deal with NAT traversal, QoS control, user management and VoIP protocols optimized for the communication over satellite links
