  • Abstract
Problems of detection and quantification of scale deposits in petroleum pipelines are discussed. Solutions based on novel ultrasonic techniques to extract characteristic features of these deposits from top-side measurements and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques are presented. The potential of ultrasonic imaging for pipeline surveys and for monitoring the effectiveness of chemical de-scaling of down-hole pipes are presented
