Abstract :
It´s significant to measure electric field (referred as E-field) strength under AC/DC hybrid transmission lines. Compared with traditional metal instrument, optical sensors cause less distortion of the measured E-field, and have more potential in practical applications. Firstly, this paper introduces the principle of integrated optical E-field sensor (referred as IOES). Then, the calibration work of the developed IOES under both AC and DC E-field is demonstrated. Finally, a typical application of the developed IOES is presented: experiment investigation on E-field strength under AC/DC transmission lines in Jeju Island, Korea. Linear measurement range of the developed IOES mostly covers the required ground E-field strength range. Using the developed sensor, measuring work for evaluating the electromagnetic environment can be well completed.
