Abstract :
This article presents the background and active research programmes of Macquarie University´s Centre for Lasers and Applications (CLA). The major fields of research supported by CLA include lasers and optical physics, laser engineering, and laser applications. More details on the specific topics of research in some of the project areas are provided. These specific research topics include biological and medical applications, guided-wave optics and photonics, laser microfabrication and photonics, molecular and optical physics, Raman lasers, solid-state lasers, and ultraviolet and visible laser applications.
