Abstract :
We have designed and constructed an 8 channel system for the analog processing, the digitization, the digital processing and acquisition of signals from CdTe / CdZnTe discrete detectors. The system consists of: Discrete charge preamplifiers, discrete semi-Gaussian shapers, 8 A/D converters working in parallel, FPGA for the pre-processing of the digital signals, high voltage module, USB link for the PC and software. The detectors can be packaged together with a JFET front end transistor and plugged in the mother board which contains the rest of the charge amplifiers, the shapers and single to differential signal converters. The system can be used for the characterization of the detectors or as a portable instrument for spectroscopy.
