Abstract :
In this contribution the recent progress in the development of the single photon emitters based on the semiconductor quantum dots is reviewed. The special attention is given to the development of the electrically driven single quantum dot single photon sources, which are very attractive for the practical implementation of the efficient light emitters for the quantum cryptography and quantum computing systems.
