Abstract :
The article is devoted to the investigation of the structure and properties of construction steel 20 and steel 45 surface layers modified by the air electron-beam treatment technique. Steel 20 and steel 45 surface fusion was carried out for the following powder blends: VK6, T15K6 (hard alloy powder blends), graphite with the MgF2 flux. It is stated that the dendritic structure with 17000 MPa microhardness is formed after hard alloy powder blend fusion. It is found that the coating has some areas which consist of carbite phase particles. Their microhardness is about 24300 plusmn 2800 MPa. It is shown that the air electron-beam fusion technique is available for carbonization of medium-carbon steel surface layers.
