Abstract :
This paper presents an improved DC/DC power distribution architecture for advanced telecom and computer systems. In this architecture, the power from the main DC bus is directly distributed on each plug-in electronic card via an onboard single stage power converter that produces regulated multiple output voltages. Thus, it simplifies the distribution scheme that conventionally involves multiple level power conversion or multiple power modules to obtain finely regulated multiple voltages. An implementation of the single stage regulated multiple output converter topology is also presented. It achieves zero voltage switching, produces independently and precisely regulated multiple outputs, employs a self reset power transformer and synchronous rectifier, is capable of fast response to high speed load transients, and is straightforward in design. The concepts of this paper are verified experimentally
