Abstract :
In this paper, the benefits of the use of plastics in the new Helios Prodigy power plant are discussed. Specifically, the design of the DC distribution module is presented and issues such as insulated environment, material selection and aesthetics are discussed. Furthermore, the cost benefit of plastic parts over their sheet metal equivalent are presented in order to demonstrate the savings one obtains as the component count, assembly time as well as weight are all reduced
