Abstract :
When charging a battery system of series connection, it is desired to remove a deteriorated unit of unbalanced voltage without stopping the charging process. For this purpose, a novel method is presented in this paper, where a parallel switch is used for short circuiting the less quality unit and a series diode is used for preventing the rush current accompanied to the short circuit. The experiment was done on the series connection of lithium-ion cells and a satisfactory result was obtained
