Abstract
This paper reports high differential slope efficiency of the light output versus current (LI) characteristic measured under dc current injection into both cavities of a composite-resonator vertical-cavity laser (CRVCL). The additional optical cavity provides a source of variable loss/gain that can be used to control the threshold current and slope efficiency. The CRVCL may be a useful optical source for applications requiring high slope efficiency, such as optical amplifiers and analog microwave links.
