Abstract :
A novel planar monopole antenna for UHF communication, based on rectangular planar monopole, is proposed in this paper. By using some methods of the miniaturization technology and introduction of the couple element, the current distribution of the proposed antenna is improved, impedance bandwidth significantly is broadened and the size of the antenna is decreased. The size of the planar antenna is just 80mm × 80mm(about 0.2λ × 0.2λ, λ is the wavelength relative to the lower edge frequency 780MHz) with the finite ground 90mm × 90mm. A 98% simulated impedance bandwidth, ranging from 780MHz to 2300MHz, is obtained within 2:1 VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio). Moreover, the prototype of the antenna is constructed and tested, shown good agreement with simulated results.
