Abstract
Pure opportunistic dissemination of content in a vehicular network can incur high delays if the number of vehicles is relatively low. We consider in this paper an area based approach to information broadcast in which vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communications is supplemented with vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communications in order to improve the delay performance. We show how area-based dissemination can analyzed mathematically using a Markovian model. We also investigate through trace-based simulations how different area partitioning approaches affect the total dissemination time.
