Abstract
A pattern-reconfigurable Yagi antenna over a mushroom-like EBG ground plane is presented in this paper. The yagi antenna consists of a driver, a reflector, and a director, which are stacked over a mushroom-like EBG ground plane. The reflector and the director can be changed at each other by adjusting RF p-i-n diode switches and the directional radiation pattern is reconfigured. A designed prototype has been constructed and tested. The obtained 10 dB return loss bandwidth is 8.5% (4.87 to 5.3 GHz). The measured results show that good radiation characteristics have been observed. This design is suitable for WEAN operation in the 5 GHz band.
