Abstract
This article proposes and develops a novel technique for transforming continuous wave (CW) light into various types of pulse train. With this method, a CW light is modulated by an electro-optic phase modulator and compressed into pulses by a linearly chirped fiber Bragg grating which is a group delay dispersive medium. This paper also discusses the application of this technique to optical networks.
