Abstract :
The field of computational intelligence [CI] has seen advances in both the theoretical knowledge base of these techniques, and in specific applications of these techniques to real-world problems. This work first attempts to summarize the current trends and definitions in the CI branches of fuzzy systems, artificial neural networks [ANNs], and hybrid neuro-fuzzy systems and their variants. These particular branches of CI are selected for their ability to be implemented in real-time problem solving, whether computation and processing is done in software or implemented in hardware. Then, some current applications of these CI technologies for use in industrial electronics are highlighted and summarized.
