            Abstract :
The accuracy of time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) ultra-wideband (UWB) localization system depends mainly on two factors: the receiver geometric configuration and the TDOA measurement accuracy. In this paper, we analyze the geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) of TDOA localization when the receiver geometric configurations are near optimum. The analytical relationship between the GDOP and the number of receivers is derived. The position error bound as a function of the signal bandwidth and the number of receivers based on the UWB distance error model derived from measurement is simulated. These results provide a useful guidance for optimizing practical localization systems.
