Abstract :
The theory of LC Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) is introduced in this paper. A fully integrated 2.5 GHz VCO in SMIC 0.18-μm 1P6M CMOS technology is designed. The post simulation result shows that the power consumption is 8 mW at a supply voltage of 1.8 V, and the phase noise of the proposed VCO is -120.1 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset from the carrier at 2.408 GHz. The linear tuning range of VCO is from 2.40 to 2.60 GHz with a tuning voltage vary from 0 to 1.8 V.
