Abstract
An adaptive load shedding scheme is designed, modeled and simulated in Power System Simulator for Engineers (PSS/E) and compared with conventional under-frequency load shedding scheme (UFLS). In this paper a new distributed load shedding scheme based on real time synchronized frequency measurement is proposed. This scheme improves the load shedding operation and sheds optimal amount of load taking into account simultaneous frequency measurements from various buses along with operating conditions and system topology. Modified New England 39 bus system is used for evaluating the results. The simulation results show that the adaptive scheme has improved the system performance under disturbance. The new distributed load shedding scheme sheds less amount of load as compared to adaptive load shedding.
