            Abstract :
In an attempt to enhance survivability and reduce cost the US Navy is currently investigating the implementation of a shipboard DC power distribution architecture that contains a multitude of interconnected power converters. The authors document a customized DSP resource (the Universal Controller) that has been specially developed to satisfy the unique control requirements of high-voltage high switching frequency power converters that utilize algorithms requiring multiple input and output channels. In particular, the authors describe the attributes of the CPU and I/O boards of the Universal Controller then detail how the unit is used to control two paralleled DC-DC buck converters.
