Abstract :
This paper presents a new modular design approach for multiple-phase one-stage power converters without a DC link. Integrated bi-directional power modules rated 1200 V have been developed for medium-high power applications. A novel power circuit design reduces critical parasitic inductance, minimizes the power connection terminals, and simplifies AC bus structure and wiring. Theoretical analysis of the silicon utilization for energy conversion of this breed of IGBT converter is attempted. The converter system controlled by a DSP achieves high voltage throughput of 460 V output with a 480 V utility input. The power converter is very compact and eliminates electrolytic power capacitors
