Abstract :
AFATS (Advanced Fuel Accessories Test System) is a computer integrated test system (CITS) which will replace aging 1950 vintage Depot Support Equipment at Kelly Air Force Base, Texas. It will be capable of testing 262 different aircraft and engine fuel accessories. AFATS exploits leading edge technologies to achieve superior performance and workload flexibility. AFATS requirements, systems approach, equipment and software design concepts, program status, and future planes are described. The paper also discusses the challenging performance (throughput, reliability, maintainability) goals and the overall benefits to the Air Force in terms of dramatic improvements in test productivity, quality of test, and energy efficiency
