Abstract :
This paper traces the historic evolution of ARINC software and hardware interface standards comprising SMART (Standard Modular Avionics Repair and Test) from 1984 through the present. Nearly a decade after several airlines conceived the idea, SMART is being used by avionics, aircraft and ATE manufacturers for development of ATE systems and test programs. SMART contains a set of software tools which provide a complete avionics testing environment
