Abstract :
For the purpose of the safety driving support in the road traffic, this paper is concerned with the extraction of a forward vehicle based on the shadow under the vehicle in the vehicle forward images. The shadow under the vehicle has features that the range of color information is narrow and that can be made binary by a low threshold because brightness is very low. In this paper, the shadow detection under the vehicle using these features is described.
