Abstract :
We have demonstrated the behavior of a standard slab waveguide as either a THR or XOR gate, for all optical ADC applications. The two transfer functions suggest the possibility of high accuracy and resolution in the quantization and encoding phases of ADCs. The designed devices offer a high degree of integration since each gate can be as short as 60 μm. The total propagation loss for a pair of cascaded gates is <0.028 dB, considering both one-photon and two-photon absorption
