Abstract :
A highway assistant service system is recognized as a critical part of today´s intelligent transportation systems. For instance, drivers and passengers need travel assistant service information on a highway; drivers might need certain product quality assurance knowledge on in-transit goods to ensure quality transportation services. A point-of-need information service is in great demand. By taking advantage of the emerging radiofrequency identification and agent technologies, an approach to the delivery of intelligent information services at the point of need is presented. This work presents a proof-of-concept research work, where the current existing disparate service information systems are fully utilized and an integratable approach to the design and development of point-of-need transportation service networks is discussed.
