Abstract :
We consider the blind symbol separation in the downlink of code-division multiple access (CDMA) communication system. Traditional matched filter technique is commonly used to separate the desired symbols due to physical restrictions in the downlink, forcing to use suboptimal methods with low computation. We introduce a novel scheme for the separation by extending the matched filter technique by the means of independent component analysis. Namely, the output of matched filter is regarded as initial value for the efficient and computationally cheap fixed-point iteration. Experiments shows that compared to plain matched filter clearly better performance is achieved with only a little increment in computation.
