Abstract :
In the present paper, a three-dimensional space vector PWM (3-D SVPWM) algorithm for multilevel converters with digital signal processing is implemented. This modulation technique uses the minimum number of tetrahedrons inside a cube, where each tetrahedron has four vertices which permit to generate a reference voltage vector. The algorithm uses a maximum of three comparisons to calculate the right tetrahedron. The 3-D SVPWM control is implemented in a three-level diode-clamped inverter; however, the proposed algorithm also can be applied to multilevel diode-clamped inverter. The performance of proposed PWM strategy has been investigated and verified through simulations and experimental results. In the present work the 3D-SVPWM technique was implemented using a DSP TMS320F28335 and applied a three level converter prototype.
