  • Abstract
This paper introduces a new concept for advanced driver assistance by means of an alertness sensing architecture including fitness related indicators spanning from steering behavior to vehicle position. The first part of this paper gives an overview of the project framework and the research platform. After that, the elements of the architecture themselves will be described. Preliminary requirements and the acquisition of relevant measures will be discussed. In consequence the notion of a fitness indicator is introduced and different indicators presented. The fusion of their outputs will be detailed in order to provide computed fitness estimation. An overview of the indicator performances will conclude this part. The integration of the algorithms with preliminary results is described in the final part and concludes toward future work and research issues
