Abstract :
Software Engineering management best practices are often neglected as a field of study. This paper describes a current pilot field study to empirically determine the extent of use of best practices in software project development and management. As far as could be determined, little or no formal studies have been carried out in South Africa. This survey is conducted through the University of the Witwatersrand. Related research has been done in Europe and in Australia. The major hypothesis is that there exist large differences in best practices between different types of organisations.
