Abstract :
Polarization diversity adaptive arrays using real valued minimum mean square error (RV-MMSE) for a BPSK system is presented. Polarization sensitive arrays such as crossed dipoles, Tripole, TRIPLE-COLD elements are used in adaptive array system to implement polarization diversity. Polarization diversity is achieved by assigning different polarization angles to different users and adjusting the array weights to reduce bit error rate (BER) using RV-MMSE approach. Polarization diversity adaptive array can support more users in spatial diversity scenario when the desired user and interfering users arrive from the same or close directions. RV-MMSE provides more degrees of freedom compared to that of complex valued MMSE.
