Abstract :
An optimum control approach for the control loop design of a category of the PWM switching mode power supply (SMPS) is presented. Based on the nonlinear programming technique, the modeling technique of the optimum control problem for a full-bridge ZVS-PWM SMPS and a flyback PWM SMPS with current mode control is introduced. A discrete nonlinear optimization algorithm is employed to find the optimum parameters of the compensation network with given power stage parameters in the meaning of minimizing the ISE index. The design results are verified by computer simulation and experiments on a two-loop flyback PWM SMPS. By using the optimum control approach, some transient performance specifications (such as stability, fast response, line and load rejection capabilities) for both full-bridge ZVS-PWM and two-loop flyback PWM SMPSs can be achieved simultaneously
